Sue, Wendy and Al: I would just like to say "Thank-you" for including me in your family over these many years. What would I have done on those Boxing Days and my quick trips to London? Your mom would always cook up a feast, including all those 'low-cal' desserts and chicken for a vegetarian. She will be missed. Colin

Wendy - I will always remember and will miss your mother's smiling face and infectious giggles at Adam & Eve's Beauty Salon on Saturday mornings. She kept everyone laughing and on their toes with her sharp quips. She and I would discuss our non-talent where golf was concerned and I was amazed at her energy to be able to still golf. I remember my first real encounter with Val - she was looking for pine cones for a project that she did at Christmas and I was delighted to be able to find a home for the many pine cones that used to fall off our trees. I shall remember her with love and will miss her. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and the rest of your family. Marilyn Medcalf

My heart goes out to the family. Your Mom was such an inspiration to me - always had such a positive attitude and greeted us with a smile that could light up the sky! I'm just sorry that I only knew her for a few years - I always enjoyed our (Ethel and my) visit to see her during the summer. She would certainly be described as a "delight" to be around. Dianne

Wendy, Sue, and Al: I was sitting here looking through the obituaries in the paper this morning, and I was in shock when I saw your moms name in there, I wanted to stop by this past Tuesday to say hello to her, but unfortunately got really busy as usual. I am sorry for your loss, your mother was a wonderful lady, I got to know her quite well over the last year. I will remember her for her laughs, her smile, and for arguing with me when it was time to drink lots of water, and most of all for her love for you her family, she always knew how to make me smile even when I was in a bad mood from my previous clients. I will truly and deeply miss her, and as you celebrate her life today, I pray that you will remember the good things, because she was and is a great lady and role model, and I am proud to have called her my friend. She will be missed. I am unable to come today, but I just wanted to tell you how much she meant to me. Thinking of you all today. Be strong for Val today..she is watching us all from above...

Sue, Wendy, Al & Families Val was a very special lady to a lot of people and I was proud to be one of them. She loved you all very much as did you, evidenced your loving care of her . Some of the stars we see in the sky died millions of years ago and yet we still see their light today. So it is with Val's spirit - it will shine on in spite of her death. In time the pain will be gone, but not the light. Remember- the smiling, - the laughing, - the talking, - the sharing, - the caring With sincerest sympathy Bev & Wally Boam

Dear family members: Thank you Wendy for calling me when Valerie passed away. I was truly touched. Even though Valerie and I worked for only 6 years, we still wished each other happy birthdays and had our annual "Christmas get together". I will always cherish them. I did not get a chance to talk to all of you at the funeral, however I managed to peruse the photos of Valerie in her youth. She was truly beautiful, internally as well as externally. The one aspect of Valerie's vibrant personality was her wonderfully wicked sense of humour. As she related to me one time after the Vanier Christmas party, she decided to attempt to grocery shop. As she entered the store with her empty cart, she noticed a full one placed aside. After deciding she liked what she saw in it, she left her empty one and took the full one! I loved that story as it really captured Valerie's mischievious nature. Thank you Valerie, for your true friendship along with your wit, charm and grace. All of the above are something I try and will continue to attempt to aspire. Love, Nada.
