Obituary of James Fuson

James Alvin (Jim) Fuson of Eugene passed away Sunday, March 22 of natural causes. He was 84.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Regena (formerly Leland). They had one daughter, Carol and two granddaughters, Bethany and Tiffany of Southern California. He often said his legacy were his two great-grandsons, of whom he was extremely proud: Gabriel (Mr. Gabe) age 14, and Adrian age 2 ½. (Mr. Adrian)A brother-in-law, Chuck who was like a brother, Chuck’s wife Shannon, both of Albany, Chuck’s son Tracy and his wife Michelle of Honolulu also survives him. His brother Bill, died in 2011. He was born in Cottage Grove, and lived in Oregon his entire life.Jim, Jean (Regena) and Carol were a close family. They went camping and fishing together and all enjoyed Carol’s antics, like whistling at pretty girls and acting like Jim did it. It was fun watching her row the 8-foot boat back to shore after breaking off the shear-pin. She thought that she had broken the motor. Jim was proud of her, but had a hard time expressing that pride and love. He and Regena really missed her when she married, because they did everything together: if all three couldn’t go, no one went.Jim served in the Army from December 1948 until July 1952, stationed in Austria and Germany.Jim spent his early years working in the logging industry, then for U.S. Plywood driving a forklift for many years. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union, employed by PMT until they closed. Later he drove truck for several local companies, retiring after several years driving the US Mail between Eugene and Federal Way, Washington. He was a member of the Retired Teamsters Union and served as President until they broke up due to lack of membership. They still got together for coffee and donuts and lots of old stories once a month.Jim loved fishing and camping with his family. He will be sorely missed. There will be a memorial service at a later date. You are invited to view the online obituary and add your own memoires and sign the guestbook at www.musgroves.com
