Obituary of Elizabeth Tapp
Our dear Mother, Elizabeth Tapp, (born Elizaveta Drozdova , in 1918 in Manchuria, China) passed away peacefully in her sleep March 25, at age 96.One of seven children, Elizabeth was born in Station Manchuria, where her engineer father helped open the first electrical station in Siberia. While she was growing up in China, her father and elder brother immigrated to the United States and worked in the logging camps of Oregon and California, and as stevedores in San Francisco in order to save enough to bring the family there in 1929. As part of a vibrant émigré community, Elizabeth worked most of her life as an accountant in San Francisco. She was married for 20 years to John Tapp of Eugene, Oregon who survives her.Elizabeth was a strikingly gorgeous, strong-willed woman, a force of nature in her own right. She had a brilliant mind and constantly outwitted most around her- even at the age of 96. She loved her family and friends and all things Russian. She continued to speak Russian with her daughter Linda, who inspired by her mother, became a Russian professor. Most dear to her were the Russian Orthodox faith, and her surviving children, Linda Tapp and Jacque Allen, as well as her son-in-law Rick Allen and beloved grandchild, Jonathon Allen, - all of Eugene. You will be greatly missed Mom. Rest in Peace. We love you.Vechnaya pamyat’.Services will be held in San Francisco.
