Obituary of Doris McCready

Doris Rachel Naslund McCready passed away peacefully in Cottage Grove, Oregon on March 27, 2015. She was born on July 19, 1927 in Leonardville, Kansas to Elmer & Edith (Moon) Naslund.Doris attended school from 1st grade to 12th grade in Leonardville and received her diploma in Nursing Training at Stormont Hospital in Topeka, Kansas and her Bachelor’s degree from John Brown University in 1950.She married Reyburn Ransom McCready in Topeka, Kansas on September 9, 1950, they spent sixty-four years together and raised two sons, Douglas Carl McCready & Philip Kitrick McCready (Edith) two grandchildren, Emilee Ruth Naik (Anil) & Collin Patrick, one great grandson, Kiran James Anil Naik born to Emilee & Anil Naik.Doris was preceded in death by her two sisters, Alice Griffiths of Topeka, KS and Ruth Quick of Lincoln, NE and a brother Ralph Naslund of Beatrice, NE.She worked as a young woman as a waitress and then in Nursing, Missionary work and a Women’s Counselor. She loved family, church, reading, music, volunteering for her community and a reading tutor.She was on the Student Missionary Council (1952 – 1953 in Belleville near Detroit, Michigan and SEND International (with side trips to Japan) in Okinawa (1954 – 1958).Private Graveside Services were held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Corvallis, Oregon.
