Obituary of Rick Peterson

Richard “Rick” Peterson went to his heavenly home Easter morning, April 5, 2015. He was born in Eugene on June 19, 1943 to Richard and Opal Peterson.Rick graduated from Willamette High School in 1961, then left home to attend Dana College in Blair Nebraska. While at Dana he met Erma Hough, his wife of 48 years. Most of those years they lived in Eugene where Rick taught elementary school for the 4J district. He taught at Fox Hollow, Howard and River Rd. schools. He retired in 1999. He had a special connection with kids and had a way of making each and every one of them feel special.Rick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a strong Christian Faith and loved his church and church family at Bethesda Lutheran. His life was centered around his family and his faith. He always thought of others first, and strived to always help and give to others.In addition to his wife Erma, Rick is survived by his son Chris (Kristi), his son Bret (Laura) his grandchildren Jed, Maya, Joey, Eli, and Adria, and his sister Mary Edgecomb. Preceding him in death are his parents Richard and Opal Peterson and his daughter Michele “Chele” Dickerson.The memorial service will be held at Bethesda Lutheran Church on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor him can be made to the Bethesda Lutheran Endowment Fund.
