Obituary of James Wright

James (Jim) Wright of Springfield passed away on April 8, 2015. Jim was born on December 8, 1934 in Ennis, Texas to Cleo and Faye Wright. He married Sharon Faith Golla on January 23, 1955.Survivors include wife Sharon, daughters Patti Wright and Theresa Sisco (Gary Swenson), sisters Margie Jessie and Edith Whitenburg, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Riley and son David.Jim was a proud Vietnam veteran who retired as Master Sergeant in 1976 after 23 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked 12 years for Suburban Propane retiring in 1988. Jim was a loving husband and father and an outstanding grandfather. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, boating with his grandsons, was a lover of animals especially fond of his chow and terrier dogs and was an extreme movie buff favoring John Wayne and Louis L’amour classics. Jim loved living on his small farm, working the land and operating his tractor.Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great friend to many. One of his greatest pleasures was attending annual Air Force reunions held across the country and reconnecting with past service members and their families. He will be sorely missed.A Celebration of life and military burial will occur at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, April 15th at 12:30.
