Obituary of Dixie Rohle

On April 10, 2015 the Lord called our beloved mother Dixie Rohle, 83, to be with her husband, Bob, in their heavenly home.Dixie Mae Rohle was born August 25, 1931 to parents Harold and Edna Wilson in Waterloo, IA. She graduated from East High School in 1949 and from Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN as an RN in 1952, beginning her nursing career at Allen Memorial Hospital.Dixie married Robert George Rohle on October 10, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was on the nursing staff at Allen for 30 years, retiring with Bob in 1984. A longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dixie was involved in circle and many of the other activities. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Waterloo Public Library. Dixie loved being on the bowling league when the kids were young and meeting with her East 49ers group for potlucks and breakfasts through the years. Luck was with her in many of her Bingo games which she enjoyed playing weekly. Attending band concerts was an anticipated time with friends and family.Spending winters in San Diego and traveling the country to see kids and grandkids brought great joy to her life.Blessings continued to pour out on Dixie after moving to Eugene, OR near her daughter, Sue and family who showered her with love. Always friends to everyone, her smile and positive attitude were a gift to all she touched.Dixie is survived by: son, Greg (Wanda) Rohle of Saginaw, MI; daughters, Susan (Rick) Brathovde of Eugene, OR, Julie (Richard Cruz) Samuelu of Temple, TX, Sandra (Lowell) Goetting of Bozeman, MT; 6 grandchildren Diana and Laura Rohle, Kelsey and Benjamin Brathovde, Anthony (Kate) and Lauren Hickok; as well as two nieces, Cyndi Copping and Jeani Hawkins.Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rohle, sister Nancy Minshall and her husband Terry Minshall.The family requests memorials be directed to: Strings of Compassion- Sacred Heart Medical Center, Grace Lutheran Church, Eugene, OR, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo, IA.Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Eugene, OR Saturday, April 18 with viewing at 10:00 am followed by funeral and luncheon at 11:00am. A memorial service and burial will be held in Waterloo, IA at Memorial Park Chapel and Cemetery on Saturday, April 25 at 1:30 pm.Join us in the celebration of Dixie's life.
