Obituary of Norman Kaufman
Norman L. Kaufman of Eugene, Oregon passed away on May 4, 2015, he was 99 years old.Born October 31, 1915 in Boston, Massachusetts, to Edward & Rose (Ross) Kaufman.Norman received his Master's Degree from UCLA and worked as a Chemical Engineer for Shell Oil Corporation for many years.He married Lillian Calvari in 1937. They had two children, Reva Kaufman (Michael) of Eugene, OR and Larry Kaufman (Sue) of Florida, which survive him, also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Norman was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Seymore and Sheldon Kaufman and a sister, Ina Press.He was involved in theater at a very young age. He did the sound and lighting for theater in Los Angles and worked with Dale Wasserman. He had a part in a black & white film 'Garden of Allah' in 1936. He was also involved in the 'Alley Theater' in Houston, Texas and was the president in the mid 50's. Later he volunteered for Next Step Recycling and did this for several years dismantling computers.Norman created wonderful stained glass pieces and will be remembered for making his famous 'scrambled eggs' Sunday breakfast.A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at the Masonic Cemetery in Eugene, OR.
