Henry Dean

Obituary of Henry Dean

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving father and husband, Harry (Henry) Dean. Married to Shirley Dean (nee Mailloux) for 59 years, and Dad to Cathy Langdon (Brian), Tom (Terrie), Bob, Jim (Louisette), Connie McKenzie (Derrick) and Colleen Davidson (Eugenio). A special Grampa to Dan and Kevin Langdon, Eric, Jes, Rebecca and Alexandra Dean, Arleigh and Jackson Dean, Jacob and Brendan McKenzie and Evan Davidson. Predeceased by his parents, Henry and Nellie (nee Winter), brother Bill and sister Helen. He is survived by his sisters Nell Ogg and Sister Dorothy Dean. He was a fun uncle to many nieces and nephews, with a great love of the outdoors, cottage life and hiking in the bush. He was a career Bell Telephone man (Windsor and Toronto), and switched to the sister company, Northern Telecom (London) to finish his career. Retired in 1983, his family and friends will remember him working away at home in his garage, stripping and refinishing "antiques", his passion for many years. Harry was a life-long learner, who took great joy in trying to understand the world around him, sharing his knowledge readily and always seeking more knowledge through the many books he read. Special thanks to The Village of Glendale Crossing Nursing Home where Harry has lived for the past 3 years where he received loving, compassionate care from the amazing staff and friends that have provided him such happiness during his last few years. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London where the Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Harry are asked to please consider Ducks Unlimited - Canada.
