Obituary of Dr. Allen Robert Pratt
PRATT, Dr. Allen Robert Ph.D – August 15, 1959 – July 2, 2013 - Passed away at home with his cherished wife Joan (Aldis), beloved daughter Karen, dear brother Dave and sister-in-law Natasha at his side. Dr. Pratt was an outstanding researcher, inventor, geologist. He completed his doctorate at the University of Western Ontario in 1995. Dr. Pratt was a distinguished research scientist at CANMET-Natural Resources Canada, an adjunct professor at Western and Queens universities and was a special advisor on green mining at the Canadian Light Source in Saskatoon. Allen was known for his gentle, caring manner and dedication to inventing new technologies to advance environmentally responsible mining. Above all else, Allen was a devoted husband and father who loved the bush, canoeing, snow and dogs. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and his faithful labrador. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Bill and Laurie Mick, Adrian Stimson, Father Michael Bechard, and the nurses and medical staff who provided care and support during his illness. A memorial service will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Friday, July 5th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
