I was privileged to work with and learn from Steve for 15 years. He was a wonderful mentor and became a close friend. I owe everything I know about the congressional budget and legislative process to him. He was a truly inspirational man. In all those years, we spoke for many hours on the phone and swapped emails most weeks. But most of all I will remember my three face-to-face meetings, and being lucky enough to stay with him in 2010 and 2011 during my visits to Washington.
