Obituary of George Hollis Gibbs
GIBBS, George Hollis – Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, George Hollis Gibbs of Lucan passed away in his 90th year at South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Beloved husband of Joan. Loving father of Brad, Stephen (Brenda), Janice (Risty) Schmidt, Sharon (Bruce) Haskett. Dear grandfather of Scott, Pamela, Stephen (Merieh), Christopher, Kathryn, Nicholas, Travis (Sarah), Jason (Colleen), Gary (Susan) and Kirsten. Survived by brother Doug and wife Grace, daughter-in-law Orla, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Gertie Gibbs, brother David and sister-in-law Irene, son Gary, grandson Tyler and wife, Megan Field Keenan. George was a former Platoon Chief with the London Fire Department with 34 years of dedicated service, and was a past president of the Lucan District Lions Club. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Woodland Cemetery.
