Obituary of Mary Bassford

Our beloved mom, Mary Ellen Martin Bassford, passed away on July 10th after 86 glorious years. She lived a full and happy life and will be sorely missed by her family.Mary Ellen was born in Urbana, Illinois and as a teen moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she met and married our father, Paul Stanley Bassford, in 1950. While pursuing his medical career they moved numerous times (Waco, Houston, Tacoma) before settling in Springfield, Oregon in 1958. Mary Ellen’s happiest times were with family and friends, entertaining at home, camping in the RV or enjoying the solitude of their vacation home in Sisters, Oregon. Mary Ellen is survived by her son Paul (Stan) Bassford; her daughter Sandra Duncan and husband Robert; her daughter Cynthia Backlund and husband Brad; her grandson Blake Backlund, wife Ashley and great grandson Max; her grandchildren Breana Backlund and Evan Bassford.
