Obituary of Linda Diane Latham

Linda Diane Latham of Washington, DC died on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the age of 47 after a 9-month battle with cancer. She died at home with family and friends around her. Linda was born July 17, 1964 to Phil and Diane Latham in Van Nuys, California. Linda graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, California in 1982. She went on to graduate from the University of California-Santa Barbara in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Economics and from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government with a Master's in Public Policy Degree in 1989. Linda married John M. Richardson on Septermber 28, 1996 and they had a son, Eli Joseph Richardson, on July 1,2001. During her career, she worked for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she pioneered the ENERGY STAR label program, D&R International, and most recently was the Chief Operating Officer for the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy in Washington, DC. Linda enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends. She was known for her quick wit, passion for her work in protecting the natural environment, and dedication to detail and reason. She made a huge impact on the lives of everyone she encountered. She is survived by her husband, son, parents, brother, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00pm at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC.
