Obituary of Caroline Porter Callaghan

Caroline P. Callaghan, 96, of Washington, DC passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughters on Thursday, July 14, 2011. Caroline was born on March 2, 1915 in Uniontown, PA to Ernest E. Porter and Pauline (Reed) Porter. She married Laughlin B. Callaghan in 1938, who preceded her in death in 1985. They had 3 daughters Caroline (Paul) Windsor of Jacksonville, FL who preceded her to heaven in 2002, Peggy Evans of Chesapeake, VA and Phoebe Callaghan of Washington, DC. She is also known fondly as Nanee by her 6 grandchildren; Paul Windsor, Jeffrey (Brenda) Windsor, Aileen (Steve) Cotton, Ben Windsor, Shawn (Butch) MacDougall and Tracy Evans; and 13 great grandchildren. She was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart League for over 30 years. Visitation will be on Friday, July 22 from 9 am to 10, followed by mass at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will at 2:30 pm at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Capital Caring Hospice.
