Obituary of Deborah Cynthia Nadine Lochhead

Deborah Cynthia Nadine Lochhead Nee Gordichuk 1956 – 2013 Debbie passed away on Tuesday evening, March 26, 2013 at the age of 56. She was born on September 17, 1956 in Edmonton, Alberta. Debbie was the oldest child of Andy Gordichuk. She lived in Edmonton, Calgary, Medicine Hat, and finally moved to Dawson Creek in 1966 joining a blended family. Debbie was a caregiver to animals, children and the elderly. She started Snuggles Day Care in Kelowna and continued this day care when her and Eldon moved back to Dawson Creek in 1993. Debbie took the Resident Care Aid Course by correspondence for 2 years and graduated in 1998 at the age of 42. She also worked at South Peace Home Support and SPCRS until 2006. During these past years Debbie has lead a life that none of us could even imagine. It was so difficult to see her go through so much pain, both in her heart and her body. She continued to more often than not talk about her future plans. Some of these plans were to buy a motor home and go travelling with her animals and also to visit Australia where her sister and nieces recently moved. We loved to hear her positive outlook. Debbie was definitely a fighter to the end. We all know that Debbie could be very stubborn and outspoken but at the same time a very gentle, kind soul. Debbie loved her animals like most love their own children. We will all miss Debbie but knowing she is in a peaceful, painless place, and with her beloved Eldon will help to ease our loss. Survived and fondly remembered by step-mother Judy Gordichuk; sisters, Patti (Cliff) Hindmarch, and Shaunesy Gordichuk (Darren Pegg) nephews and nieces Kevin, Paul and Tami Hindmarch and Aubree and Preslee Pegg. Debbie is predeceased by her husband Eldon Lochhead, brother Shayne Gordichuk and father Andy Gordichuk. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 4:00pm at Bergeron Funeral Chapel, Dawson Creek. Expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to the Dawson Creek S.P.C.A. 637 – 114th Avenue, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 3A1
