Reverend Norman Edgar Chugg 1925 ~ 2013 Reverend Norman Edgar Chugg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 18th, 2013 at the Points West Living Hospice in Grande Prairie, AB at the age of 87. Norman was born in Fort Macleod, Alberta on July 17th, 1925. His family later moved to the Grande Prairie area. He was the 5th of eight children. At age 17, he became a devoted follower of Jesus Christ after hearing the verse, John 3:36, from the Bible, "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him”. After high school Norman served his country by joining the Canadian military never making it overseas because WWII ended. After being discharged from the army he attended Prairie Bible Institute (PBI) for 4 years. At PBI he met his wife, Jeannette Elizabeth Remboldt, of Everett, WA. They married September 8, 1950. Both he and Jeannette felt God’s call to go as missionaries to Venezuela, South America with The Evangelical Alliance Mission and left on a ship from New York in 1951. They spent the next 39 years of their life serving the Venezuelan people. He was greatly respected and loved by the Venezuelans as one of their own. Norman and Jeannette chose to retire in Grande Prairie but were still active in church work both in Centralia, WA at Mountain View Baptist Church for 12 years and in Cleardale, AB. He became a solid supporter of the David Thompson Bible Camp. His family and those close to him will remember him for his adventurous spirit, spontaneous generosity, passion for Christ, genuine love, and warm affection. Norman is survived and will be greatly missed by his six children and their spouses: Margaret (Philip) Schmidt, Allan (Betty) Chugg, Lois (David) Belch, Ronald Chugg, Paul (Rose) Chugg, and Carmen Chugg; 12 grandchildren: Karen (Dallas) Derksen, Charity (Gerald) Lindberg, Matthew Schmidt, Jamie (Nathanael) Visser, Jeremy (Krista) Chugg, Michael (Becky) Belch, Jordana (Andy) Osborn, Bradley (Lori) Belch, Caroline Belch, Mariana Chugg, Josiah Chugg, and Lydia Chugg; and his 13 great-grandchildren.
