Obituary of William "Bill" Adams
ADAMS: March 22, 1927 – June 30, 2020. It is with sadness that we grieve the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William Howard Adams. Bill passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Center on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Bill was born in Brandon to his Greek Father, George Adams, (Olympia Café) and his Swedish mother, Emma Hammerbery. Bill's sister, Lorna Hamilton predeceased him in 2018 and his brother-in-law, Don in 1993. Lorna is survived by her sons, Mark (Janis) of Dallas, Texas and Bruce (Fiona) of Vancouver, B.C. and their families. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary of over 65 years and their four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter, Cyndi and her family: Zach (Paige Hamel) and their children Hadlee and James; and Farran (Devon LeBlanc) and their children Peyton and Lukas. Daughter, Kate; son, Billy (Veronica Kynas) and their children Will, Zoey and Brooklyn; daughter, Tracy and her girls, Tessa (Zac Hunka) of Cold Lake, AB and Brittni Hedley of Regina, SK. At 16, he operated Adams Taxi, then from 1954-1968 he owned Fashion Fabrics. Prior to buying a trucking business, Bill was employed at CKX in advertising. In 1968, he purchased Dinsdale Cartage and Storage (N.A.V.L.), from which he retired in 1999. Over the years, Bill was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kinsmen Club, K40 Club, director of N.A.V.L., executive positions with former Brandon Golf and Country Club and later with the Recreation Centre. He enjoyed many years of competitive curling, the cottage on Deer Road and golfing at Clear Lake was especially a favourite pastime. He was appreciative of the care received from his doctor, Dr. L. Minders. Bill's memory will be honoured at a private family memorial.
