Obituary of Gladys Eloise Bell
BELL: Gladys Eloise Bell (nee Myers). Gladys was born in Belmont, MB February 1st, 1928, the fourth child to George and Mattie Myers (Campbell). She peacefully passed away on April 29th, 2013 with her family near at the Brandon Assiniboine Centre. Gladys leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of 63 years, Fred, son Gordon (Karen) of Hamiota, son Bruce (Margo) and daughter Diane of Brandon. Grandchildren Lauren, Kelsey, Jillian and Tanner. Brothers Harvey (May), Dennis (Jessie) of Belmont, sisters Evelyn Chambers, now of Brandon, Doreen Acorn of Glenboro, Shirley (Arnie) Egge of Kimberley, B.C. Brother-in-law Jim Williamson, sister-in-law Shirley of Belmont and sister-in-law Marlene of Brandon. She was predeceased by brothers Lloyd, Calvin and sister Audrey. Gladys was born on the family farm close to Belmont. She received her education at the Belmont school and went on to attend Brandon Business College. It was during this time in Brandon she met her future husband, Fred. Gladys started her career for Anglo Oil before moving on to work for Scott National Foods and then to Clements Drug store where she retired in 1993. In her retirement, she enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends and family, watching her grandchildren participate in sports and bowling with her long time best friend, Jean Carrick, in the seniors ladies league. Gladys will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend with a warm heart and the patience of a saint. A Come & Go Memorial Reception will be held at the George Brockie Fellowship Centre at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Gladys may be made to a charity of choice.
