Dear Maxine, Chris, Becky,
I am very sad to have read that Gord is no longer the "Purolator Guy" on earth. A new district in heaven is getting a major upgrade in service quality with Gord joining "Team Purolator, Heaven Division."
I worked for two months downtown, before some of my own health issues took me away from work, and Gord was THE man for whom I worked my entire afternoon, the "Purolator Guy" (as we affectionately called him in the shop) arrived anytime between 3:15 and 4:00. I think I worked harder for Gord than the boss, and you know Gord wasn't writing my paychecks! Wow, what a SWEET, jovial, funny, loyal, caring and, for me, STRONG guy he was, I was so glad I didn't have to load auto parts into his van. I just slapped a Purolator Sticker on a wrapped up parcel and made sure it was ready for Gord.
One day, I had a huge, very heavy irregular-shaped parcel that I could barely lift onto the weigh scale to print the bill of lading out to slap on the parcel. Gord? I gave him advanced warning and he just picked it up with one hand and was out the door with the other parcels balanced in the other. What a guy! And he was funny!
It's two years later and those two months? I remember Gord from my days downtown. THAT is the mark of a great man. Two months, 38 days (give or take) and your Husband, Dad was such a great guy, he made a positive impact on my day EVERY day. How many guys leave a legacy such as that? Your Husband, Dad is one of those in that extremely special club of people that changed peoples' days and lives; daily. We are all so much less without your guy, but, what he left us in memories and that lesson of being a positive change, daily? That will go on for eternity as we discuss our lives working in Brandon.
Especially for Chris and Becky,
You know, out in the working world it often is brutal and in shipping and warehouse? You see very little sunlight on some days, except for lunch and two coffee breaks, provided it is warm enough to go outside. Your Dad? He was LIGHT in a dark warehouse. He came in and a dreary, bad day? He could turn it around in the less than 5-10 minutes he was there. He REALLY made a vast difference to my brief working days downtown. What a sweetheart he was, you have SO VERY MUCH to be proud of and brag on your Dad about, for and because of who he was to you, to your Mom and to all of us "working stiffs" on his route who got deliveries or prepared pick-ups for him.
Thank you for sharing your Husband and Dad with Brandon. We will all miss him but none so much as you.
Kind thoughts,
Mary Jo Welch

I was so sorry to hear that Gord had passed away - way too young. He was our Purolator 'guy' at the Lung Association - always gave great service and had a friendly smile for us. We loved hearing about his travels. Deepest sympathies to you at this sad time.

Even though we too have had family tragedy this week, it is not as significant as your loss.
Gord touched the hearts of all of us and will always be in our hearts forever. Enjoyed his travel tales. God bless you

Max, Becky, Chris, Charlee, Mason and the rest of the family. Gord was the most AWESOMEST PERSON I ever met in my life. He was so full of energy, always smiling and throwing music trivia at ya. In the 10 years I worked with him, I can honestly say I never saw him sad or down for a day. He always made my day. He will be sorely missed by many....but he is at peace and painless now. I know that that is not a comfort but in time....as we have learned over the years....is does get easier. Take care of yourselves....let people do things for you, be greedy and heal!!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Won't say much, as we are in constant touch, but...
Max, Becky & Chris, Mason & Charlee:
You know how much Gord meant to us. He was a person who loved rock 'n roll, loved his 'Dosa festivals, but most of all loved his wife and kids and grandkids. He should have had more time with all of you.
We know you'll all take good care of each other, you are the strongest family we know. But your cuzins are here to help when times are rough...
We will miss Gord forever and he will never be far from our thoughts and memories. xoxo

We are sorry to hear of Gords passing. We are remembering the good times we all had at family reunions at Minnedosa and family backyards. Even Gord climbing the trees at Minnedosa picnics. He will be missed by many people. Take care. We are thinking of you all.
