Obituary of Brenda Lillian McCoy
McCoy, Brenda Lillian (nee Forder)Passed away at her residence at Christie Gardens on September 22, 2020 at the age of 85. Born in West Ham London on May 15, 1935, Brenda was the youngest daughter of Edward and May Forder. Sister to Edward (Ted), Margery (Marge), Winnie (Win), Barbara,Tony and Brenda, and sister-in-law to Susan and Patricia. Brenda grew up in London's East End, and is a survivor of the bombings of London. After completing school in London she became a Legal Assistant working in the prestigious Lincoln's Inn Field area. She eventually came to Canada where Herbert was the first person she met as he picked her up at the airport, and eventually they were married on March 28, 1964 and had Steven and then Corina (Cori). Monika later joined the family as Steven's partner. Her grandson Mitchell came along, who was the light of her life. The two would spend hours together telling stories, playing trucks, pretend, going on bike rides and playing cards. He was her strength and guiding light, and she was his. She is the Best Grandma ever. When Brenda and Herb moved back to Toronto to their home at Christie Gardens, Brenda became an active member of the community. She participated in the painting of an outdoor mural, knitted dolls for Christie Garden's Holy Fair, made crafts with the other residents. She was also an avid Scrabble player who was always up for a challenge. And she enjoyed her little bit of time gardening and growing her tomato plant. She made many friends at Christie Gardens with her sense of humour, great ear for listening and generous spirit. Brenda was a voracious reader, and loved quilting, pottery, sewing, knitting, painting and needle point. The family will attend a private Memorial Service, followed by interment of Brenda's cremated remains. In consideration of public health guidelines, the gathering is by invitation. You are greatly encouraged to sign Brenda's Book of Condolences. Memorial donations made to Princess Margaret (https://thepmcf.ca/Home) or Christie Gardens Foundation (www.christiegardensfoundation.org) would be appreciated by the family.
