Obituary of William David Munro
MUNRO, William David1942 - 2020 David Munro passed away peacefully on September 14, 2020. Dear brother of Donna Wuschke (Ed), Marianne Munro (Sigmund Kasprowicz - pre-deceased), Margaret Rice (pre-deceased) and Fred Munro (pre-deceased) and beloved son of the late Elsie and Charles Donald Munro. Cherished uncle of Carol, Mark, Erika, Sandra, Allison, Suzanne, Stephanie, Donald, Kim, Julie, and Tracy. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and dear friends, including his former wife, Elizabeth Kurth. David was born in Peterborough, Ontario, studied computer science at the University of Waterloo and earned an English degree from McMaster University. He worked for Procter & Gamble for many years as a computer programmer where they appreciated his myriad talents. But his heart was most at peace with his dog, good company, a glass of wine and meat on the barbecue amid the natural beauty of the lake at Buckhorn. His curiosity about the world led to a fascination with both the news and oddball facts, making him a frequent winner of Extendicare's trivia contests. A love of music and an irreverent sense of humour coloured his life and those of the people around him. He knew how to make an entrance and an impression, whether it was declaring, "I'm here, feed me!" or insisting that "Doggie in the Window" was the right song for all occasions. He will be remembered for his incredible sense of humour, for his giving heart and for his brilliance. Sadly, COVID-19 took him from us too soon. His family would like to thank the caregivers and recreation staff at Extendicare's West End Villa for their efforts, care and compassion over the past five years. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
