Obituary of Froilan Espiritu

It is with great sadness that the family of Froilan Natividad Espiritu announce his peaceful passing on Monday September 7, 2020 at the age of 75.Froilan will be greatly missed by his wife Erlinda, children Maria (Darryl) Gomes, Grace (Ambrosio) Dimagiba, Eleanor Espiritu and Ian (Robyn) Espiritu as well as his grandchildren Ella, Evan and Emmett. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Teresita Mercado, Corazon (Rex) Parreno, Elisa (Norman) Rilloma and Josefina (Ramon) Lamoste and by his numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces.Froilan was born in Marilao, Bulacan, Philippines. He met Erlinda while they were studying medicine at MCU. They married in 1974 then emigrated to Canada to provide their future children with more opportunity.Froilan was a dedicated physician. He served a number of communities across Canada, first as a provincial health officer in Newfoundland and then as a Family Physician in Toronto from 1999 until his retirement in 2015.He enjoyed fishing with his friends and gardening all summer long. He had a great love of animals: he was always trying to capture birds and rabbits that wandered into the backyard. He would laughingly say that if he had not become a doctor, he would have been a farmer.His friends know that while he was a man of very few words, Froilan had a deep abiding love for his family, friends, his patients and most of all God.Directions to livestream on Monday, September 14, 2020, at 10:00 a.m.:1.
