Obituary of Kenneth Sears
We are heartbroken to announce that Ken Sears passed away peacefully at home on September 3rd, 2020, at the age of 82, after a valiant and hard-fought battle with PSP. Ken was born in Kingston, Ontario on December 5th, 1937 to Gord and Ivy Sears. He met the love of his life, Muriel in 1957 and they were married in 1959. With Ken’s keen and artistic eye for detail, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career for over 40 years as a lithographer. He moved to Scarborough with his beloved bride and together they began what would be a wonderful life, alongside their “family” of neighbours. As Ken’s own family grew, so did his heart with the birth of his 4 children, followed by his many grandchildren. Over his 82 years, he was blessed by the friendship of countless people. So many of those friends became and remained, extended family. He played, coached, and enjoyed as many sports as possible and was famous for being the biggest Toronto Maple Leafs Fan around! He never missed a chance to cheer on his kids, grandkids, and many others in any and all of their life events. Ken was front and center at school recitals, academic achievement events, all the sports, dance recitals, the theatre and any other event or occasion they were involved with.Muriel was Ken’s primary caregiver and protector throughout his terrible PSP battle, but she was not alone. Muriel was supported by Greg, Joel, Hayden, Colin, Joel M, Alex, and Julian.Ken is survived by his wife and best friend Muriel and his children Heather (John),Lois (Randy), Susan (Greg) and Predeceased by his son Billy. A devoted Papa/Poppa/Pops. He will leave a lifetime of happy memories in the lives of his grandchildren Tana-Lee (Cody), Kira, Cody, Grace (Julian), Charlotte (Joel), Joel (Alex) Hayden and Colin and his great-grandchild Rainer. His many furry grandkids will miss his gentle hand, loving heart, and never-ending supply of secret treats. Ken will be greatly missed by his brother, Gord (Ellen) and sisters, Shirley and Linda (Harry), Muriel’s sister Wilma (Don) and brother Ron (Debbie) and previously deceased by his sister Lorraine (Stez) and brother-in-law Bob (Shirley) He will also be missed by “the neighbours,” his nieces, nephews, cousins, his large extended family and many, many friends.
