Obituary of Faith Legault
Obituary – Faith Marcia Mary Legault (nee Forster)April 23, 1932- August 30, 2020On Sunday, August 30th, 2020, encircled by the love of her children, both near and far, Faith M. M. Legault died peacefully after a challenging hospitalization at The Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus. Faith was predeceased by her parents and Jim, her loving husband of 57 years, as well as her dear brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cherished cousins. She was born in London, ON and raised in Sarnia, ON as the only child of Murray and Mabel (Sidey) Forster. She moved to Ottawa in 1951 to begin her training as a Registered Nurse at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and became a proud graduate of the “Class of 54B”. It was then that she met the love of her life, Jim Legault. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage and raised their five children in a very busy home.Faith and Jim were long-time members of St. Giles Presbyterian Church where they developed many meaningful and life-long friendships. In addition to the importance of her spiritual life, Faith had a passion for the natural world: from family summers at the cottage on the Bonnechere and winters in New Smyrna Beach, to her gardens and her pets, all these have been imprinted upon her children. She greatly cherished music. She loved to sing. She played piano by ear. She eagerly awaited Friday hymn-sings with Fidele, who provided her with ongoing spiritual inspiration and connection. Spending time with her family was her most favorite thing.Left to honour and celebrate her legacy are her loving children Jill (Larry Milks), Jan, Mark (Mojgan), Anne (Ronny Domitrovits), and John (Meredith), and grandchildren Andrew, Devan, Stefanie, and Sarah.Jan, Mark, and John extend their deepest gratitude to Jill, Anne, and families for their compassionate, loving and unwavering commitment to Mom’s well-being. As her children, we will forever celebrate her legacy of strength, resilience, love of family, her unique sense of humour and her beautiful smile. Many thanks to Mom’s family physician and friend, Dr. Jeff Hovey. While at The Ravines, Mom was supported by many: Karen and Alena of the Activities Team who warmly welcomed, encouraged and engaged Mom, and Sam the general manager, for his dedicated professionalism, remarkable empathy and willingness to accommodate the needs of the residents and their loved-ones. Our family also extends deep thanks to Sue, an incredible PSW, who was a vital lifeline throughout this recent and most difficult time.A family celebration has taken place at Capital Memorial Gardens. Faith and Jim’s ashes and those of their cherished Toby and Shag will be scattered at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to the Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Nepean, Ontario. Sharing Memories and online condolences may be made through www.capitalmemorial.ca
