Obituary of Michael LeClair

LeCLAIR, Michael "Mike"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband and father, Michael LeClair, on Sunday, August 30th, 2020 in his 74th year at the Ottawa Heart Institute. Dearly loved husband of Betty of 50 years, devoted father of Jennifer Avery and Christopher LeClair (Kim). Adored son-in-law of Mary and predeceased Dominic Disipio. Special brother-in-law to Tony Disipio (Kim) and Donna Disipio (Ray Dinelle). Proud Poppa to his four beautiful granddaughters Emma, Sara, Sydney and Madison. His active role extended with love to his two dear nephews, David (Lauren) and Steven (Tina) Gervais. Survived by his sisters Mary (Jim), LizAnne (Chuck) and Janet (Jack). Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Azeta, his brothers Bob (Pat), Pat, Norman (Jeannie) and David (Edie). His role as “Uncle Mike” extended far beyond his blood-relatives, he was loved and looked up to by so many. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, staff and so many close friends.Michael managed his illnesses with strength, grace and a good sense of humour, the same way he managed all his life experiences. We will carry his “live for today” attitude in our memories forever.Michael was an industry leader, founding Ottawa Business Interiors in 1975, along with a number of other business ventures that kept him active and vibrant in the business community. Michael had a tremendous love for giving back to others. He was recognized and honoured for his philanthropic involvement in the community on countless occasions and was most proud of his role as past Chair of the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.A special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at the Heart Institute and the Ottawa Hospital for their loving care and support during his final days. Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service has been arranged and a proper celebration of Michael’s life to be arranged at a later date.
