Obituary of Clarence Herbert Stanley
STANLEY: Clarence Herbert. It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Clarence at the Brandon Regional Health Center on Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 at the age of 96. Clarence leaves to mourn his passing his brother Ken, sisters-in-law Dorothy, Helen and Elsie as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Edith, his brothers and sisters Luella Trent-Ramsay, Harold, Gordon, Percy, Isabelle Ferguson, Albert, Irene Ward and Jean Ritch, sister-in-law, Ellen, brothers-in-law Stan, Trent, Alex Ramsay, Robert Ferguson, Ron Ward and Wally Ritch. Clarence was born in Daly Municipality on May 31st, 1916. His childhood was spent in various districts, finally settling in the Roseland district in the Municipality of Whitehead where he attended Roseland School. He remained on the farm and helped with the dairy until he joined the army, Royal Canadian Ordinance Corp. in April 1942 where he served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until his discharge on March 26th, 1946. On his discharge he purchased a truck and worked for the Manitoba Dept. of Highways on various projects all over Manitoba. In earlier days he played baseball and did some travelling. Clarence was happiest spending time with his sisters and brothers and extended families and was always there if he was needed. As his health deteriorated he moved to Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home in February 2009 where he spent the rest of his life. Funeral Service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on April 29th, 2013 with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Phil Hall, Bill Shoup, Jim Stanley, Wayne Stanley, Ray Stanley and Bryan Stanley. If desired, donations may be made in Clarence's memory to a charity of your choice.
