Obituary of Stanislaw Jozef Szafran
Peacefully, and after a mercifully brief battle with cancer, with family by his side at Victoria Hospital, on Monday, June 11th, 2012, Stanislaw “Stan” Jozef Szafran, in his 90th year. Recently moved to London after nearly 20 years in California with his loving partner Lea. Dear father of Liz (Bill) Buddle, Krystyna “Kiki” Szafran and Rafaĺ (Jan) Szafran. Proud Dziadek of Melanie (Drew), Chris (Becky), Keri (Steve), Lucas (Stacey), Rain, Brianna and Gibson, and Pra-Dziadek of Evan, Emma, Peter, Taren, Cameron, Sophie and Gracie. Predeceased by his wife Paulina “Lu” (née Trejgo) (1990) and by his sister Halina, of Poland. Stan was proud to have served as a Captain in the 1st Artillery Regiment of the 2nd Polish Corp in the English 8th Army. Thankfully he just published his memoirs of his recollections of War 1942 – 1947. A memorial service will be conducted at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario on Friday, June 15th, 2012 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Lakefield, Ontario, at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Stan are asked to consider The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Trust Fund.
