Obituary of William Longo

LONGO, William – It is with great sadness that the Longo family announce the passing of Bill, in his 89th year, at University Hospital, in the presence of his loving wife of 61 years, Helen. Born in Italy, in 1922, and arrived in Canada in 1927. Bill served in the RCAF from 1943 to 1945. He joined Bell Canada in 1947 and worked in Windsor, Ottawa, Toronto and London retiring after 36 years. Loving father of Stephen (Annette), of Severn Bridge (formerly London), Paul (Susan), of Ajax, and Elise (Rick Sedgwick), of London. Proud Grandfather of Jeffrey and Jason Longo, Matthew and Alyssa Longo and Nicole and Laura Sedgwick. Great Grandfather of Nathan. He will also be missed by his niece and nephews. Predeceased by brother Tony and sister Mary Marchand. Lifelong friend of Jeanne Guatto (Fred), of Windsor. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Thursday, July 14th, 2011 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment of ashes at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bill are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
