Obituary of Dr. George Franklin Mills
Frank Mills died on May 30, 2013 at McCormick Home, London, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by his wife Marion (Anderson), children Kathy (George) Zador, Karen Button, Kevin (Valerie) Mills, Marnie (Malcolm) Graham, Kent (Julie) Mills. Loved as Papa Frank by grandchildren Tim (Gillian) Button, Lesli Zador, Claire (Geoff) Matthews, Lindsay Zador (Glen Coombs), Alex Mills, Kiara Graham (Adam Daly), Caelum Graham, Alison Mills, Cameron Mills, and Papa GG to great-granddaughters Brynn and Blythe Matthews. Brother-in-law to Margaret Mills, Helen MacKeigan, and Bob Anderson, Uncle Frank to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Father John Mills, sister Jean Goodwill, sisters-in-law Peg Pollock and Maryn Anderson, brothers-in-law Colin MacKeigan and Dougall Pollock. Born February 18, 1926 in Strathroy, Ontario to Gladstone and Gladys (Woodhull) Mills, Frank spent his formative years in Strathroy and Los Angeles with summers at Kintail. He completed studies at University of Western Ontario (Meds ’51) and University of Toronto (DPH 1972). Besides his devotion to family and friends, Frank lived a life of service to others as a Physician, Coroner, Medical Officer of Health, Rotarian, Shriner and Politician (former Mayor of Goderich). Of strong Faith, he sang in church choirs from an early age. He and Marion built wonderful friendships wherever they lived during their 64 year marriage including Strathroy, Detroit, Oshawa, Wroxeter, Gorrie, Goderich, Barrie, Sudbury, St. Catharines, Rondeau Park, Cape Coral, Elliot Lake and London. A boating, snowmobiling and gardening enthusiast and a talented artist, Frank will be remembered for his zest for life and quest for new experiences and challenges. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 11:00 am at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. There will be one hour of visitation preceding the service. Donations to McCormick Home Foundation (www.mccormickhomefoundation.ca) or the charity of your choice would be gratefully received. A memorial bench has been purchased for Courthouse Square in Goderich to honour Frank’s legacy.
