Obituary of Ronald Hubert McVey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Hubert McVey, on Friday, May 10th, 2013, at Parkwood Hospital, London, in his 85th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years Mavis (née Mitchelson) and his children: Michael McVey, Louise (Brian) Forsythe and Maureen (Albert) Wong. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Spencer and Simon Wong and Abby McVey. Ron was born in Cheshire, England, in 1929. He emigrated to Canada with his new bride in 1952 settling in Toronto. They raised their children in Markham, Ontario, before moving to London in 1998. Ron studied engineering and worked at several manufacturing plants before accepting a job with the government in the Consumer and Corporate Affairs Department. Always hardworking and generous, Ron donated many years of his time and energy to involvement with the Lions Club of Markham and the London Kiwanis Club, as well as volunteering at Victoria Hospital’s Critical Care Trauma Unit. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be conducted at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Ron to the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex/London – Bequest and Endowment Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
