Cindy and Cam Millar posted a condolence
Our love and thoughts and prayers are lifted up to Uncle Doug, as we as a family mourn the loss of a wonderful 'lady', our Auntie Lorraine. I personally remember her so fondly as a little girl visiting her in Michigan, and how she spoiled me so much with all the 'cool' things that were not yet available in Canada:) Our visits to Port Elgin as a young teen, and also as a young family with our children and going to the beach at Port Elgin. I will always remember her beautiful smile, and her kindness and generosity to myself and my husband Cam and our girls Heather and Kristin. The move to London brought Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Doug closer to my mom and dad and her times spent with my mom shopping and special coffee and lunches out, were so very much appreciated. I loved her laugh and her kindred spirit. She will be forever remembered in our hearts. Rest in peace now dear Auntie Lorraine. Your suffering is now over. Give Grandma Lewin a big hug from all of us:) With our love always.... Cindy and Cam, and our girls and their families, Heather, DJ, Rachel and Alexander... and Kristin, Matt, Levi and Brynlee. xoxoxoxo

Don joins me [from his current residence at Sunset Lodge], in expressing our complete love and support to my dear brother, Doug, at this very sad time. Thank you so much dear Doug for all the wonderful care and love you provided to our dear Lorraine during her extremely difficult illness the past few years. Your love and faithfulness, not only to Lorraine, but your kindness to other residents at Glendale did not go unnoticed on my long overdue visit to see you and Lorraine last May. Lorraine was a dear "sister" and friend and is sorely missed, but she will forever remain in our hearts and minds. We are confident that she received a warm welcome from our dear Mom, her Auntie May and her dear Dad, to mention only a few who were waiting to receive her once she was freed from her earthly bonds. Our thanks too to our brother, Ray, & Joyce Lewin and to Lorraine's brother, Barry Moore, and family for their love and support, especially over the last few very difficult years for Lorraine. Our love and fond memories of Lorraine will remain with us forever. God bless and keep you, Doug always. Our whole extended family joins in extending our sincere sympathy to you at this time. All our love and many prayers. Sister, Val (Don) Gill, Victoria, BC

I've just heard of Lorraine's passing. Please accept my family's sincerest condolences at this sad time. Our memories of Lorraine, though infrequent, will be cherished for some time. My brothers Larry and Bob and I (sons of Ted and Carol Haseman) can still recall Lorraine's visits when we were young and she never forgot to bring the candy, licorice and chocolate gift box of cigars and cigarettes for us to enjoy (yes maybe not appropriate for children today but, well it was the 50's and we loved them). I hope this memory brings a smile to you as it always has for us.

Dear Uncle Doug, You are in our thoughts every day. Auntie Lorraine was such a special person and I always looked forward to seeing you both. I have such fond memories of visiting you both in Port Elgin. You were both always so patient and loving towards us girls (even when I was a bit rambunctious). Ever time we visited we were allowed to pick any toy from your store (every child's dream). I remember waiting at Mom and Dad's livingroom window anxiously anticipating your visits to Oakville. And how comforting it was having you so close during my undergraduate years at University (thank you for checking in on me, taking me grocery shopping and having me over for dinner, it really meant a lot to me). I loved Auntie Lorraine's loving nature and her talent for telling funny stories of how clumsy my Dad was growing up (she would have me in tears of laughter). Her ability to see the humour in life's precious moments is something I have learned from her and will cherish forever. Her love for my Dad was evident in the way she said his name (she said it with such pride, love and at times protection of her little brother). She was a kind, caring and beautiful Auntie, and now that I am an Auntie, I am grateful that I had such a wonderful role model on how to do the job. Love you Uncle Doug. You are in our hearts. Dear Doug I have heard of you often thru my Mom and Dad and Val, not sure if we have ever met. My Mom and Dad (May and Bill Lewin) had your Mom, Mildred for dinner on Sundays on Golfview Ave in Toronto as I was growing up. I just wanted to tell you about all the wonderful stories I have been told about your constant love and support to your wife Lorraine, primarily from your sister Val. I just want to let you know I think Lorraine was very fortunate to have you as a husband. Your constant love and support of Lorraine is incredible. I hope in the coming days, weeks, and months, you will feel comfort in knowing how devoted you were to Lorraine. Thinking of you, and hoping as time passes you will realize all of the wonderful qualities you possess. Take care, your cousin, Marilyn

Dear Doug, we send our loving thoughts and sincere sympathy to you. The loss of your beloved wife, Lorraine, is immeasurable. The love she left behind is also immeasurable and may you always feel that love. Your devotion comforted Lorraine during her last difficult years and it symbolizes the special love that you shared. May she rest in peace, free from pain and confusion, surrounded by love. Your mother, Mildred, was always very special to us and we have many fond memories of our visits with her. She told us what all of her children were doing and that, along with Christmas cards from you and Lorraine, kept us connected. Take care of yourself and know that your extended family sends you love and emotional support. Love, Ainsley & Steve Lewin

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear sister-in-law Lorraine. In leaving all of us she is free from her suffering. We remember being with her at family gatherings through the years, Christmas dinners and dinners at Mom Lewin's, visiting at their home in Detroit, Port Elgin and London, and then at our home to see us in Scarborough and Oshawa. The celebration that comes to mind was the surprise party we had to celebrate Doug & Lorraine's 25th Wedding Anniversary, telling them it was a birthday party for Mom Lewin. We always enjoyed our times together talking about the things we enjoyed and what was happening in our lives. We always remember Lorraine's wonderful laugh and her love for beautiful things. She was always good to our girls, Heidi and Marion, and to our five grandchildren. We send our love and prayers to Doug and Barry and his family during this time, and ask that God keep you in His care, as you will miss Lorraine so much in the coming days. Remember: God is our refuge and strength. Psalm 46:1 Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10 Love Murray & Fairie

Dear Doug: Thinking of you at this sad time. Over the past 2 years at Glendale, it was a pleasure visiting with you & Lorraine while mom & Lorraine were "roommates". Most of my visits would start off with seeing what colour you had painted Lorraine's nails. You took such great care of Lorraine. Please take care of yourself & remember I am only a phone call away if you need anything. Sincerely: Candy (& family).

Hello Uncle Doug: I was very sorry to hear of your loss. It must be tough. I hope that you now find peace and wish you well for the future. Although we have not been in regular personal contact I feel connected, as mom keeps us regularily apprised of goings on in the east. She speaks with such fondness of you. All the best.
