John Conley

Obituary of John David Conley

John passed away suddenly at home, on Friday, April 19, 2013, with his friend Honey (his yellow Labrador) at his side. John was a longtime resident of London who was a successful entrepreneur and computer programmer (especially working with GoodLife Fitness Clubs). John worked for over twenty years as a firefighter and Fire Prevention Officer, and retired as Assistant Director of Fire Training Division. A self-professed Jack-of-all-trades, John worked in forestry, forest fire prevention, teaching, and assisted in developing music software programs. He was a dedicated Freemason, and a past member of the Mocha Shrine and Mocha Trumpet Band. John was also a devoted member of the Plumbing Factory Brass Band. He was an enthusiastic musician, avid photographer, chef and reader, and he spent countless hours enjoying and capturing the beauty of nature. Beloved husband to Diane Conley, and loving son to Donald ‘Jack’ and Arla Maye Conley of London. Proud father to Jack (Jennifer), John Jr., Robert (Isabelle), and Renee (Lewis) Conley. Cherished grandfather to Fionn. Dear brother to Philip (Christina) Conley of London, Mark (Norma) Conley of London, Margaret (Howard) Johnson of White Rock, B.C. and Mary (Lorne) Gait of Ladysmith, B.C. He will also be sadly missed by numerous nephews and nieces, many cousins and dear friends. Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, where a memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Donations to a charity of your choice on John’s behalf would be appreciated.
