Mr. Leyland was my teacher at Althouse College (1976-77). He took such pride in his mature student class. Hard work was rewarded with good marks. A "father hen" to all of us. We were there to embark on a teaching career. Many of us were nervous, unsure, and fearful of this new journey, but Mr. Leyland , with his kindness , assurance, knowledge, and his keen sense of humour, helped instill in us the confidence we needed to be successful. With his enormous effort and special care in showing his students the way in the education system, I was able to have a successful career in teaching. A few years ago, my dear friend Terry Brennan (whom I met in Mr. Leyland's class), along with my partner, Richard Lewis, spent the afternoon with Mr. Leyland reminiscing about the days we had together many, many years ago. He still had his wonderful sense of humour along with his pride in our accomplishments. We will remember him always and how much he shaped our lives. He will forever be in the hearts of his family, his many friends, and his appreciative students. Ken Leyland--a dear, sweet man, and a mentor to many.
