Today we have lost our best friend. Over all his years at The Star and after we were together at work and after our work day ended. We curled and golfed and had a few afterwards and always had such a great time with an extremely witty friend. Mikey was as much as a son to Carla and I as my two sons Patrick and Michael. Thus we always referred to him as Mikey. To say today my heart is broken would almost be an understatement. We will all miss him so much because we developed such a close relationship over my 24 years of knowing Mikey. My deepest sympathy and not even sure that puts it into context to his mom Vi and brothers Bill and Jim and their families. We will never forget a true friend that we have lost much too early. Mikey my friend, rest in peace, you will remain in our hearts forever.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mike Bowen. I knew Mike during my tenure at the Sudbury Star. Mike was always courteous and helpful at work and would not hesitate to stop and chat on the sidewalk. I considered Mike a friendly and decent person with a positive outlook on life. My condolences to his family and close friends..........

It was said that Mike was devastated losing the Sudbury Industrial Men's Bonspiel A title game about seven years ago. Well, Mike, The Sudbury Star won the C-1 division Sunday. We finally got you that bonspiel title you wanted so badly. It felt at times you were out there on the ice with us at the Sudbury Curling Club over the weekend. Rest in peace, my friend.

My Condolences to the family. I worked with Mike at Tracks and Wheels for 3 years. He was always in good spirits, we would have daily conversations about finance, world news and stocks performances. He brought in the pictures of his travels and his camp to share. He mentioned often how he appreciated his brothers help with his camp. I left work a month before he fell ill and I always wish I would have been there for him. I will miss Mike very much!

Mike, you were a friend from the day we first met, and you remained a good friend throughout the rest of your life. We could skip six months, then get together and pick up right where we left off. You were a wonderful person to chat with. I enjoyed every time we got together – especially our road trips to Buffalo. Heck, you made me a Bills fan! You helped make good times and fond memories. I will miss your friendship.

My sincere condolences to Mike's family and close friends. I'm fondly remembering the chats we had on Saturday afternoons when we both came into the office to get some work done without the distractions and the hustle and bustle of putting out a newspaper every day. We had some serious chats about world events and the economy but I knew he was also a fun-loving person who truly valued friendship and camaraderie ... after all, he was one of the "Three Amigos."

The first thought that pops into my head when I think of Mike is the trips to Ralph Wilson Stadium to cheer on our Bills. There are so many great memories from that weekend and I’ll always cherish them. I’ll never forget the game against Jacksonville in 1989 when Doug Flutie led the Bills down the field and scored a game-winning touchdown with 13 seconds to play. To this day, I still believe that it was the four us – can’t forget Frank and Brian – that started the Flutie chant that close to 80,000 fans picked up on. You will be missed, my friend.

Although we didn't get many opportunities to get to know Mike, we did have the fortune to be welcomed into the Bowen family through his brother BIll and sister-in-law Carole (McCulloch). Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bowen family through this difficult time and we know Mike was very much loved by all that he was able to include in his life.

Four of us shared a house and worked together at the old Georgetown Herald back in the 1980s. Mike was always a hell of a lot of fun to be around. We shared lots of laughs in Georgetown. My deepest condolences to the Bowen family. Mike was a terrific guy. "Who would not flounder in the fight than not have known the glory of the fray."

My sincere condolences to Mike's family and friends. I had the privilege meeting and working with Mike at the Star. I remeber what an excellent numbers person he was, as I could expect a monthly visit from him after he received the financials questioning me on the revenue and expense figures. Mike, I know your Dad always wondered why you stayed in Sudbury, and as you would tell me you just loved the north, which was more than evident. We both followed the path of moving from the south to the north, and I can today I can appreciate your passion for the North. You were taken far to early and may you rest in peace my friend..

Words can't express how I feel about losing such a close friend. In many ways, my best friend. I will always remember the good times we had on the golf courses in Myrtle Beach and elsewhere. At our annual Buffalo Bills game, which is a tradition your friends still intend to keep. Just about anytime we got together was a good time. Mike was the most generous person I knew. His knowledge on a wide range of topics and his sense of humour made him fun to be around. My prayers go out to your wonderful family. Rest in Peace my good friend.
