It was my pleasure to care for John during his stay at Glendale Crossing Nursing home. When the odds were against him, we worked together and I was determined to see John walk and ride the bike again which he loved to do..And he accomplished this and regained back some independence to be mobile again..He was a great man and will be missed...

I worked with Dr Toogood towards the end of his medical career when he had retired from patient care but was still actively pursuing his research interests in asthma. I had the pleasure of co-authoring an Abstract with him and helping him with a few of his last papers. He was a great man to work with and I will always remember him and the things that he taught me. He will be missed.

Dr. William (Bill) & Shirley Yang, Ottawa posted a condolence
I was one of the resident doctors working at the Victora Hospital Allergy Clinic in the early '70s. He was my mentor giving me inspiration to go into Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology. I became very interested in research because of his mentorship. He was a world class teacher, mentor, researcher, clinician and a great human being. We both shall miss him. Our sympathy and condolences to the family and the Allergy Clinic staff at the Victoria Campus.

My deepest regrets to your family on the loss of your father and grandfather. He was a wonderful, kind and caring man. Over 50 years ago he became my allergist and litterly gave me a second chance in life. He came along when I felt that I didn't know where to turn. When he asked for volunteers to do the double blind tests, I was only to happy to help repay all the kindness he had shown me. The day he retired, I was at the hospital and me and other of his patients were in tears to see him leave. I live north of the city and told him that I would perhaps find another Dr. there and he asked me to please stay with his team as they had followed my case for so many years and so I stayed with Dr. Moote. It was a pleasure to know this wonderful man who did so much for the care of asthmatics of London.

To The Toogood Family: I would like to offer my condolences to you on the passing of Dr. Toogood. I worked for Dr. Toogood (Secretary) in the Allergy Clinic, after he had retired from patient care. I have fond memories of typing up manuscripts and lectures, which I knew nothing about. However, I had a good teacher. May he rest in Peace. Ann McMillan

I worked for many years as Dr. Toogood's research co-ordinator. I learned so much during that time and was inspired by him to continue my studies and research while working for an pharmaceutical company. I used the knowledge I learned from him every day. He was a great teacher, mentor and clinician and researcher. I knew many of his family members and I send you heart felt condolences. I know he will be greatly missed.

I worked as his receptionist shortly after I graduated from College. He was able to retrieve abilities from me that I never knew existed. In the four years I worked for him, he became a friend as well. When I left his employment he "Toasted the Bride" at our wedding. Coincidentally, he graduated the same year my husband's family doctor did. You can imagine my surprise when I walked into Dr. Doug Patchell's office the first time and saw Dr. Toogood's picture on the wall! It was indeed a privilege to have know him. What a dedicated and compassionate doctor! Please accept our sincere condolences.

My condolences to the Toogood family. Many thanks to his family in supporting Dr. Toogood in his work with me and many others over the years. I never knew him personally but over the many years of visits to his clinic down in that basement office, way at the end of the hall it seemed like we knew him. Our family always appreciated his thoughtfulness, kindness and knowledge to make me as healthy as I could be. May God bless you in these hard times and soon replace your sadness with fond memories. Gilbert VandenHeuvel , Goderich, Ontario.

I miss "Dr. Jack" and always thought of him as a fond uncle rather than a cousin as he provided such an eminence grise (yet fun) presence throughout my childhood. I was so pleased that he found time to visit Ottawa and our Nanny - his "Aunt Jean" - as he was such a gentleman and made her day on many occasions. With love and remembrance to David, Peter, Linda, and Donnie and all the other relations.
